Efficiency

People often talk about the efficiency of an individual machine such as a water heater or a furnace.

But we can also talk about efficiency in a broader sense. We can take into consideration not only how the fuel or energy source is used by a machine, but also the characteristics of the energy source and the overall efficiency of the processes by which energy is obtained, transported, and stored.
