An array of 300 tidal turbines is planned for New York’s East River off the coast of Roosevelt Island between Manhattan and Queens. When completed in 2012, the 10 megawatt Roosevelt Island Tidal Energy project will be the first grid-connected kinetic hydropower system in the world.
